Research

Our main line of work is quantum machine learning on ODRA 5, Poland's first superconducting quantum computer. Shorter builds and earlier work sit below it.

Quantum AI Studies

ODRA 5 / IQM SPARK / 5 QUBITS

A continuous research programme on ODRA 5, the IQM Spark five-qubit processor at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Quantum processor access is provided by the Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing.

Flagship Research Project

QC1: Quantum Banknote Classifier on ODRA 5

Axion's flagship quantum research program: a hardware-aware variational quantum classifier for banknote authentication on ODRA 5, comparing IQM Spark-native ansatze against simulator-oriented designs.

Head to head: classification on the same folds and protocol, compilation at the same optimization level

ODRA-native Simulator-oriented
Accuracy on the physical QPU, depth 4, five-fold mean 87.6% 74.5%
Compiled circuit depth, depth 6, optimization level 1 127 263

In the Works

What the group is working on right now.

In preparation

AAAI-27 submission from the quantum group

A paper out of the ODRA 5 programme is being prepared for AAAI-27. Title and results go up here once it is through review.

Under embargo

A second AAAI-27 submission

An Axion member is submitting separately to AAAI-27, in efficient machine learning rather than quantum computing. Details go up when the preprint does.

Active

QC1, beyond banknotes

The ODRA 5 study is being extended past its original benchmark: further ansatz topologies, deeper circuits, and classification tasks outside banknote authentication.

On hardware

Time on ODRA 5

The experiments run on a physical processor, not only simulators: cross-validated classification, state fidelity, KL expressibility, and Meyer-Wallach entanglement measured on ODRA 5 itself. Quantum processor access is provided by the Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing.
